On September 1, Prof. Dr. Johanna Stachel was appointed Qiu-Yongxi Honorary Professor at Central China Normal University (CCNU) in Wuhan. The official certificate was presented by CCNU Vice President Prof. Liu Sanya in the presence of Dean Qin Guangyou, heads of several university departments, colleagues from the College for Physical Science and Technology, as well as her long-time collaborators Peter Braun-Munzinger and Krzysztof Redlich.
The honorary professorship recognizes Stachel’s long-standing scientific collaboration with members of the department and her regular visits to Wuhan, where she has given lectures and talks at workshops. It also opens up the opportunity for continued academic exchange and student engagement in the future.
During her most recent visit, Stachel participated in a newly established “Science Salon” with about 100 physics undergraduates. Together with her colleagues, she answered students’ questions on education, research choices, career paths, and balancing professional and personal life. The lively event left a lasting impression and is set to be developed further in the future.
With this honorary title, CCNU pays tribute not only to Stachel’s outstanding scientific achievements but also to her dedicated commitment to international collaboration. The faculty warmly congratulates her on this well-deserved honor.
