Wolfram Pernice, Peer Fischer and Christine Selhuber-Unkel (the latter two coopted) in our faculty are part of the interdisciplinary project POEM, funded by the Carl Zeiss Foundation. This project aims at attaining a reproducible and precise production of complex organoid models to simulate malfunctions of human organisms. In our faculty, we will realize an automatized platform for organoid culturing with high reproducibility and throughput. The robotic platform will be controlled by an artificial intelligence in order to enable efficient parameters scans and targeted optimization. Using machine vision and analysis we aim to derive new protocols for reliable organoid growth with minimized human intervention.
