Leibniz Prize for Wolfram Pernice

Wolfram Pernice's research is in the field of integrated photonics, with the goal of developing new methods for information processing and fast computing processes with light. To this end, he is working on chip systems using nanomanufacturing processes that are aimed at applications in artificial intelligence and quantum technologies. With his research on so-called neuromorphic photonic computing, the experimental physicist has done pioneering work, as the DFG emphasizes. Prof. Pernice heads the “Neuromorphic Quantumphotonics” working group at the Kirchhoff Institute for Physics.
