The faculty for physics and astronomy in Heidelberg is happy to announce the laureates of the Maria-Goeppert-Mayer-prize, with support by the company Lab14 in Heidelberg. The 2024 prizes are awarded to Karen Wadepfuhl for her experimental work on the "Emergence of Synchronisation in a Driven-Dissipative Hot Rydberg Vapour", where she investigated the interaction of a particular quantum system to excitations stimulated by a laser, and to Benedikt Schosser, whose thesis is entitled "21cm Parameter Inference. Constraining extended Starobinsky Inflation and more with future cosmological Experiments". Benedikt showed how models of cosmic inflation in the early universe can be tested experimentally through cosmological observations. The faculty and Lab14 are glad to award the prize to two young, aspiring physicists and acknowledges the outstanding quality of their work.
