Modern experiments in many fields of physics produce much more raw data that can reasonably be stored, requiring online analysis and selection.
The lectures give an overview of the trigger and data acquisition systems required for this. We discuss basic principles and system architectures and then study different techniques employed in experiments - in particular in particle physics. We explore the exciting possibilities of modern electronics and how trigger and experiment design are intertwined.
